I had a call from commercial diving company that I’m working for. They want us to do some maintenance under the oil rig at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
Since I have contract for 2 more years I couldn’t refuse. Other thing is that I don’t want because this job will boost my budget a lot.
It’s called saturation dive. We are locked (4 men) in the diving chamber and compressed to the ‘storage’ depth (65 m). Once in a day we get down in the diving bell to the bottom (80 meters), go out and work. After the whole job is done we start decompression that takes around 4 days.

It’s worthless to do single deep dives because decompression takes a lot of time. More demanding jobs would be extended in time to the point of nonsense. In our case after our tissues are fully saturated with dissolved gas we can work without limit. We stay/live under pressure and decompress only once at the end.

So it’s 3rd day when I’m writing this. Locked in this tiny space – around 11 cubic meters – with three other guys. We can stay here maximum 28 days.

I miss freediving, Deepspot, my co-workers, friends and first of all I miss someone special…
…but thinking about the new car that I’m gonna buy after this month keeps me calm.
Still more days to go.
Respect for professionals!
OMG. 4 days decompression. Great respect! I didn’t think your job looked like this. I thought it was a little simpler 🙂 take care !
